Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:

I recently attended one of  my son's little league games and was amazed at the poor sportsmanship that was displayed by some of the opposing team members.  These are children only nine or ten years old and they are already acting out.  I would be interested in seeing an article on sportsmanship and children.

Sincerely,
H. Johnson

We appreciate the suggestion.  Look for an article on children's sportsmanship in the February, 2000 issue of Athletic Insight which will be focusing on children and athletics.

Dear Editor:

I am currently an undergraduate student in psychology and I am considering going to graduate school.  One of my interests is sport psychology.  I was wondering do you have any information on programs that would be available?

There are several places were you could get the information that you are looking for.  Both the American Psychological Association, Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology Division) and the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology have a Students section which should provide the information you are looking for.  Links to these pages can be found on our Links page.  In addition, in the Recommended Books section of our site there is a book that you might consider purchasing called Directory of Graduate Programs in Applied Sport Psychology, by Michael L. Sachs (Editor).  This is a comprehensive guide of the graduate schools that offer training in this specialized field.
